Skin Care Trends in 2006

Filed under: skin care — admin @ 7:06 am

In addition, concerns have been raised about some of the potentially harmful ingredients being applied to our skin and thus absorbed into our bodies, with potentially harmful effects on our health.

These reports have led to a ‘natural’ skin care ingredient boom right across the skin care industry and increasingly we see advertisements promoting natural skin care products.

Toward the end of 2005 however, buyers have been realising that natural skin care products may not necessarily be all-natural skin care products and are starting to doubt the validity of advertisements promoting their skin care products as being natural.

Further, the men’s skin care market has been more strongly targeted with many well-known brands creating and promoting a skin care range specific for men.

So what can we expect in 2006?

I believe, that the above trends will continue during this year and will intensify in certain areas. These areas include:

  • An increased focus on Men’s skin care
  • More anti-aging ‘miracle’ products
  • Increased focus on promoting so called ‘natural’ skin care products
  • An increased ‘buyer be ware’ attitude from consumers about just how natural the promoted skin care products are, and
  • An increase of scepticism toward the promotion of natural in respect to skin care products by manufacturers.

I see the manufacturing of skin care products to be divided into three types of manufacturers:

  1. Traditional Skin Care Manufacturers that produce skin care products that will provide good results, but these products are not advertised to be natural, organic or anything other than skin care products. Their products include emulsifiers, preservatives and possibly potentially harmful ingredients, but they do work and customers do get results.

  2. Jump on the Bandwagon Manufacturers that market their products as being natural and actually do include natural ingredients or at least naturally derived concentrates together with other ingredients. They will promote these products as being natural and will attract buyers who are concerned about what they are putting on their skin and subsequently into their body.

This category contains another type of manufacturer, I call it the Psydo-Natural manufacturer. This type uses only natural ingredients, but does not use these ingredients in their natural state. That is, they will not always use traditionally made herbal extracts, but will use isolated, active ingredients from herbs or essential oils in their products.

The problem with this type of product is that the ingredients are no longer complete, they are ‘out of balance’ and as a result could cause potential health concerns. This has been explained in another article called ‘Natural, All Natural, Holistically-Natural or Pseudo-natural - that is the question’.

  3. The third type of manufacturer of skin care products are manufacturers that have resolved to provide purely natural skin care products to their clients and are dedicated to use holistically, natural ingredients to produce truly natural skin care products. They use pure essential oils, traditionally made herbal extracts, and follow the philosophies of natural medical practices such as herbal medicine and naturopathy.

The next 12 months or so will see consumers becoming more and more aware of what is truly natural and what is not. The Internet is a great source for gathering such information and women especially will start to research skin care products in ever increasing detail to find the type of products they prefer.

Men will start to become more aware of their skin’s needs and will increasingly start to follow similar skin care regimes as women. However, I think it will take men a little longer to start thinking about the purity of their skin care. They will probably leave it up to their spouses to select their skin care range for them.

The Secret Privileges of The Evil Empire

Filed under: health care — admin @ 4:01 pm

Do you remember that quaint Evil Empire that stretched across much of the world; the one where countless millions were enslaved, without opportunity or hope?

Well, I have news for you.

Those huddled masses weren’t completely hopeless, poor, or disadvantaged.

If you interview Russians who grew up during the age of Glasnost, you’ll learn many of them had it pretty good. Free health care, a living wage while they studied in universities, and a guaranteed job thereafter, if they excelled, were commonplace.

Indeed, many who have immigrated to the land of opportunity, America, simply cannot believe, for instance, the primitive state of our health care system.

Waiting in an Emergency Room, hour after hour while they bleed, they recall with wistfulness how hospitals were only mere blocks away, staffed to the gills with highly educated and competent physicians, not illiterate assistants, who couldn’t contain their enthusiasm about assisting them.

Doctors in the Russian Federation, I hear, still make house calls and prepare medicines and curatives on the spot. No visits to drug stores, by the sick and infirm or their time-strapped relatives, are required.

Having spent hour after hour with loved ones and friends while they have languished for want of treatment, I can’t help but wonder why America can’t fix its broken health care system.

When increasing amounts of our national wealth are sunk into health services each year, the output of this sector continues to worsen.

Isn’t it time to do what England, Canada, and even the Russian Federation have done, and declare this sector, and the health of their people so significant, that they cannot be left to the pharmaceutical companies and the medical education establishment to control?

Lester Thurow, the Dean of the Business School at The Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), said when it comes to health care, “We’re all socialists.”

We don’t care if our fellow citizens receive the best care imaginable, as long as we share in the privilege.

What do you think?

How To Get A Nursing Degree By Taking Online Nursing Courses

Filed under: health care — admin @ 10:07 am

For the LPN or RN who wants to get a BSN in Nursing, there are several online nursing programs available. Although the programs do not encompass the entire curriculum, the additional work that is required for a degree in the field is offered. These programs are directed toward the student who has already received certification as an LPN or an Associates degree in nursing. For the LPN who desires to complete the coursework needed to be an RN, or the RN who wishes to receive her BSN while still working as a registered nurse, these courses are excellent.

Although there are no clinical studies involved in the online nursing programs, it is assumed that the student has already completed that course of study or is working in the field. These programs, offered through a number of distance learning universities include Phoenix University, Drexel University, DeVry University, and many more. The online degree programs allow the nurse who is already practicing in the field to obtain a BSN or for the registered nurse who already holds a BSN, to obtain a MSN. The higher degrees will allow her to excel more into the field and to open opportunities that do not exist for those who have no degree or only hold an undergraduate degree.

If you are in need of programs that offer financial aid, some of the online programs offer that option as well. It is not available through all of the schools that offer distance learning online, so it will be necessary to read the information that is offered to determine if you will be able to even consider financial aid through that particular institution. The programs may even differ somewhat, so you need to be cognizant of what your needs are and that of your state in order to participate in the program that is going to be the most beneficial to your career. Each state has its own requirements, and if the courses you take don’t allow you to pass the test that your state requires in order to become certified, you have wasted your time and money. Before signing up for any of the online programs, be certain that you know the requirements of your state and what you need in order to obtain a higher degree in your field.

For the practicing RN or LPN who is interested in management in their field, abundant information is available for that as well. Additionally, some of the institutions even participate in tuition reimbursement programs, but this is on an individual basis, so you will need to check the information provided by the individual college or university. If the information is not readily available, you will need to contact them either by telephone, letter, or email. The programs are available to help you advance your nursing degree online, but it will require research on your part to discover which program best suits your needs.
